ABOUT THE S4 SKILLS PROGRAM

Hockey Edmonton S4 Skill Development

S4 is a progressive initiative and program that is aimed at providing a free world class training experience for all players within Hockey Edmonton’s scope and association. This program is specifically designed to develop, teach and enhance players' individual skill development. This integrated individual player developmental model supports the continuous and progressive growth of players within Hockey Edmonton.

A proactive model of player development, the S4 Skills Program goal is to provide supplemental individual skills training for players of all ages and abilities.

Excellence in on ice performance will be achieved and taught utilizing specific instruction in proper skill and skating techniques. Players will be taught and developed through high quality professional instruction. They will learn techniques properly and develop through correction and reinforcement of individual curricular topics. Skills are the pillars and foundation for development of all hockey players. Technical and tactical skills will be integrated throughout the program, with the primary focus on developing the player’s individual skills.

Curriculum will consist of:

• Explosive hockey specific Skating techniques on and off the puck
• Stickhandling and moves (developing superior puck control and skills)
• Shooting and Scoring learning proper techniques and practices of how to score and what to do
• Passing and purposeful puck movement proper team play and sharing the puck
• Proper and effective hockey and skating specific training
• Planning for success with key indicators such as player and coaches development

Integrated individual player developmental model that supports the continuous and progressive growth of players within Edmonton and area. Making the experience meaningful and relevant to all levels of players.

S1 = SKATING
S2 = SCORING
S3 = STICKHANDLING
S4 = SHOOTING

S4 Skills is available to all in two streams. The first being GRASSROOTS available to all players Novice to Peewee within the organization. The second being an ADVANCED stream specifically for Rep / Tier 1 & 2 players. There are 7 individual S4 Skills days throughout the year. The S4 program covers all aspects of instruction, delivery and curriculum planning. Maximum class sizes will be 28-30; cost per player will be $0.

The S4 Skating and Skills System is specifically designed to give serious players the competitive edge they need for ultimate skating and hockey performance. Players will train with purpose with the S4 hockey specific skating and skills instruction.

This high intensity hockey specific skating and advanced hockey skill development program will help you achieve the maximum performance you need for excellence on ice.
